Dolls in Action, was founded in May 2013 by our Artistic Director, Olivia Sylk.
Dolls In Action is a vibrant community of individuals on a mission to empower you to feel comfortable and confident in your own skin through the art of sensual movement.
Our journey began because we recognized that societal pressures often shape our perception of what the 'ideal' woman should look like or be. You might wonder, 'Who cares about societal norms?' But the truth is, as human beings, we all experience these pressures to varying degrees. That's why we created Dolls in Action – we wanted to create a space where you can cast aside those societal expectations and rediscover yourself through dance. Our aim is to provide a non-judgmental, welcoming environment where you can unleash your inner self with confidence, no matter your background or level of experience.
At Dolls in Action, we eagerly anticipate our dance classes, thrilling performances, and exciting collaborations with Chicago's local artists. Moreover, we are committed to giving back to our communities through forthcoming projects.

Olivia Sylk
Olivia Sylk's journey in dance began as far back as she can remember. From her early years, she immersed herself in the world of dance, becoming an integral part of various dance groups during her formative years. Her passion for dance has been a constant, shaping her life in remarkable ways.
Today, Olivia is not only a passionate dancer but also a dedicated dance instructor. She imparts her knowledge and expertise in a variety of dance styles, including Lady Style Bachata, Latin Urban Heels, and Sensual Movement. Olivia's classes are more than just dance; they are a celebration of self-expression, confidence, and sensuality.
Olivia's specialization extends beyond teaching. She excels in choreographing captivating routines, particularly for our beloved 'Dolls in Action' Lady Style Bachata and Sensual/Burlesque groups. Her choreography adds a touch of elegance and allure to every performance, captivating audiences and leaving a lasting impression.

Cattleya Sans Souci
Azucena Sans Souci (Blossom without Worry) has always enjoyed dancing. Although she feels she is no professional, dancing has always helped her free her mind and provides the sanity she needs. Thanks to Dolls in Action, she feels she has learned to love and feel confident within her own skin. Azucena never imagined performing or being a dance instructor.
Azucena was introduced to Dolls in Action by her childhood friend of more than 20 years, Jami, who founded Dolls in Action. With the growth of DIA, Azucena was given the opportunity to teach in February of 2019 as our Dolls in Action Level I Instructor.
Azucena loves how sensual dancing sparks a fuel to celebrate all body types and body positivity. Azucena’s passion is to provide and help individuals feel confident, be creative and shine through dancing.
Michelle
Michelle currently shares her expertise through her unique dance class, Hips Whips and Dips. This class is a thrilling fusion of jazz funk, pop, and hip-hop, a vibrant blend of styles that invites students to explore their creativity while mastering the art of movement. In her classes, Michelle doesn't just teach dance; she cultivates a space where self-expression knows no bounds.
Beyond her role as an instructor, Michelle's choreographic prowess shines brightly. She specializes in choreographing unforgettable performances for the Dolls in Action Quinceañeras. Her choreography adds an element of flair and elegance to these special celebrations, making them even more unforgettable.
Maribel Secret
Get ready to turn up the heat and let loose with Maribel Secret, the fiery force behind 'Dirty Doll Dance Movement.' Maribel's dance class is where the music gets unfiltered, and you get to unleash your wild side while burning calories in style.
'Dirty Doll Dance' is not your average dance class. It's a high-energy, ratchet and cardio-infused experience that will leave you feeling invigorated and alive. Maribel's unapologetic approach to music and movement creates an electrifying atmosphere that's all about having fun and getting down.
But Maribel's impact on the dance community goes beyond the wild and untamed dance floor. When she's not with the Dolls, Maribel leads the IL COMMIT Dance Fitness Instructors, sharing her expertise and passion with fellow dance enthusiasts. She can also be found instructing throughout the city and suburbs, spreading her love for dance far and wide.
